Chamomile

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I am a big fan of chamomile, both the German and Roman varieties. I grew some German chamomile for my neighbor who is a very elderly man and is from Germany. He was a field photographer during the war. He always talked about how at night he and his comrades would gather the chamomile flowers and make tea. He is pretty much bed ridden at this point. So I thought it would be nice to grow him some chamomile to enjoy.

He says that what I grew for him was very similar to what he remembers, but the flowers were much larger on the ones they picked. I'm wondering if there is another variety that I don't know about that could be what he speaks of. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Donna, that is so very sweet of you!! I grow a variety of chamomile called 'Bodegold'. It grows a little larger and seems a little more fragrant than other varieties. Richter's carries the seed.

Thanks a bunch... I'll have to check into that.

I also came across something called corn chamomile, that might be what I'm looking for.

Also, I discovered that the chamomile is closely related to sunflowers. Which I guess, makes sense.
