The bark is fantastic with orange lenticels

I planted 2 Lacebark Elm 'Allee' last Spring here in Central Wisconsin. No protection except deer spray in the Spring and Summer, they love the fresh soft growth.

This tree grows fast. I planted I gallon plants that were about 3 ft high 2 yers ago and they are 9 ft tall now with about a 1 1/2" trunk.

It's hardy up here, I hope.

You're z5? I would think it would be hardy; elms are sturdy stock! Well, not the Dutch ones :)
I planted a big specimen that succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease, so the tree isn't impervious to it.
They are absolutely gorgeous trees. Enjoy!

The 2 Lacebark Elm 'Allee 'Ulmus parvifolia' that I planted are still doing well up here in Zone 4.

Ulmus parvifolia 'Allee' seems to be very hardy. It's withstood -30 here and no dieback.

I will post pictures when their trunks are unwrapped, we're having a cold spring here.

There is still snow in some areas. Although I think generally the climate here in central Wisconsin is changing, and I cannot put it into words.

I'm glad they're doing well, and I'm looking forward to seeing the bark!

We had snow last night. So depressing, as the Daffodils and Hyacinth are blooming, so it was feeling like spring was really on the way!

Here are some pics of the 2 Ulmus Parvifolia I planted 2/12 yrs. ago. Not too impressive but I pruned many large lower branches this Spring in hopes they will form a single trunk leader.

The bark is finally starting to exfoliate near the base of the trunk.

I didn't know I can only post one image at a time.

Here is an image of one of the Ulmus parvifolia tree itself.

What a great root flare for such a young tree! It's beautiful, and I'm glad it's doing so well. I might have to try one in the UP of Michigan.....
