What do I do with my new little friend?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

This is the 1st time I have looked at my Butterfly Bush and found something looking back. Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? How old? and what do I do with it? There are no trees right overhead. It looks like the tail feather aren't developed enough. It's not afraid of me, and not chirping for mom. I finally got it to drink some water but I know less about birds than gardening. Any ideas anyone, it's been there 8 hours already.

You might post this in wildlife as well.

After many hours, probably recovering from shock, he got a little fiestier and early evening he was gone. Hopefully back to mama.

There's a bird ID forum, too - you can always get an answer there. He was really cute - you took good care of him and he'll remember you forever (yeah, right!).

You never know...

I talk to the crows, raccoons, and small birds and they'll come right into the yard while I'm there. Anyone else comes out they take off. I've been trying with the squirrel, but he won't stick around long enough for a conversation. One of the rabbits hung out with me one day, but they don't come around that often.

He has a very robin-like face - maybe he's a young robin. I found out on the bird forum that robins are notorious for putting their nests in places that are easily accessible to predators. And then, of course, they don't have much of a window to learn how to fly.

I had a deer in the yard when I came home on Thursday evening. He turned his back to me, ate, walked across the lawn while I got out of the truck. And then I realized that he had been grazing on my zinnias . . . so innocent. LOL I'm sure he thinks I put them there for him.

Don't all animals?

LOL. I have finally learned that I'm only here to serve.

What is it they say? That cats only "let" themselves be domesticated because they couldn't open doors . . .

I always thought it's because they'd have to work other wise and felt it was their right to get waited upon.

Dogs think they're human, Cats think they're Gods.
