I'm in Mtn. Home Ar and am wondering if I should use the shade cloth all year? I've heard both arguments but I would think you would want as much sun as possible in the winter. Any thoughts? Nanadee
Shade Cloth
The different arguments probably came from people who live in very different climates. If you're in zone 4, then yes you definitely want the most sun possible to help save you on heating bills. But if you're in zone 8/9 and maybe even 7, there are enough warm sunny days during the winter that keeping the GH from getting too hot during the day can be just as big of a challenge as keeping it warm overnight, so in an area like that (which is what I'm assuming your climate is like) the shade cloth will help keep your plants from frying.
