wilt or rot is killing off creeping thyme?

Wallingford, PA

I have elfin thyme in my herb garden, (full sun , in pennsylvania) Every year around this time it starts to get this dark rot coming up from underneath. it seems to spread across the patch and kill it. In the past I've dug out the rotted part and the dirt under neath and that seems to stop it from spreading. but I'ld like to figure out what the problem is . Any ideas?

Try a mixture of one cup H202 [ 3% hydrogen peroxide ] in a gallon of water .
A cup 3 or 4 times a day . This I use when winter is over on all the house plants .
Wife likes to over water . I am / did today - molds and root rot also like hot /heat .

It hates to get its feet wet! Plant it in very well draining soil, like sand or grit.....

thanks folks. I will give the peroxide a try and i will move it to a drier spot. I don't water it but we did get a bunch of rain last week and those hot humid days in between. So it makes sense, even I felt a little moldy.
