Specail Needs Maine Coon Cat Needs New Home

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

My dearest friend just entered Hospice and I am going to help his family find a wonderful home for his faithful companion, Samson Thunderpaws. Sam, shown with his full Maine coat a couple of years ago, is nine and neutered and has been a one-man-cat all his life. During the comings and goings of the past couple of weeks with family and friends caring for my friend, Sam has shown affection for others that I didn't know he had. Sam is special needs because he had a tree climbing accident and as a result, his right front paw is paralyzed. He walks on the top of his paw and rubs a small sore that sometimes get infected and needs antibiotics. I think if you kept him in the house (where he really should be) this wouldn't even be an issue. With his "bum leg" he still catches lots of mice and runs across the street to see what is crawling in my yard. The only thing that is really effected is his ability to climb trees.

I have emailed the breeder for help in re-homing him, but haven't heard back. I will contact the Maine branch of Maine Coon Rescue next. I was just hoping that someone on DG would know someone wanting a furry best friend. I have Wallingford who, you may have guessed, is a handful and I don't think that I could get Sam comfortable in the same household with Wally. We live in southwest Connecticut and would be willing to drive Sam to a new home if it wasn't too far away.

The next post will be a current picture of Sam with his bum front paw and the worst haircut ever!

Edited to say that Sam is purebred Maine Coon from the Thunderpaws line of Siberia Farms. His color is blue tabby.
