The less conspicuous the pot, the better!

Just don't plant them in full sun!

It's best if they get some shade, but there ARE sun varieties, esp. the lance-leafs. Go to happinessfarms.com and you will find a list of cultivars that will take full sun. I grow Gingerland, White Wings and Florida Sweetheart in scorching Texas all-day sun. Be prepared to water two or three times a day on the hottest days.

Mine is planted in full sun, I do water every morning and I also added some mulch :>)

When planted in pots in hot climates---like mine in TX---add "water absorbing" granules to the pots. They work remarkably well---I only water my caladium pots every other day, instead of twice a day. Also put caladiums in somewhat larger pots that will hold water longer---small pots are problematic for caladiums in hot climates.

Jasminesmom...your caladiums look fantastic! I have great luck with Caladiums here in the most brutal hot climate - I don't really have to do anything special with them and I think they love humidity. I have to say though that I get great bulbs from Bill at Caladiumsforless on this site and they're spectacular (no...this is not an advertisement! hehe)

Glen 74 - I had to laugh when I seen that you were registered in Effingham. I was watching Regis and Kelly this morning and the guest host was David Duchovny (X-files). They have a live viewer contest each morning and the woman they selected was from Effingham! The first question out of David Dochovny's mouth was if it was Efffing-hot? It was kind of funny! I'm sure you go through it all the time!

KatG, Thanks they are doing really well this year and I agree they do seem to love the humidity
