International Gesneriad Society (any members here?)

Hi,

I just joined the IGS and am wondering if there are other members in the AV forum. :o)

I belong to the Gesneriad Society but I am assuming it is American????????

Yeah, I didn't respond either because I belong to the American one too not the International one.

Back from googling it. They are all the same society, also formetly known as american gesneriad society but it's now called gesneriad society.

lol..well now that I know they are one in the same..Yep..I belong too : )

*giggles* and today I joined the Gesneriad Hybridizers Association so that I can confuse myself even further *lol*

Hi Anna,I'm a member of the gessie society to and the hybridizers association and just joined the british strep society a few weeks ago..

i am also as jannich is. they are all great to belomg to. you can get such intresting seed from all of them.

Can you get seeds from the UK? Will customs allow it? If so, i will join them.

When I lived in England I had many streps from Dibley's. I also used to go to the Expos, especially the Royal Horticultural Society one as I used to be a member.

At that time I was more interested in geraniums and had more than 100 plants, dwarfs, miniatures, etc... I used to hybridize them also and had a good few plants.

You all sound like very serious strep addicts!

WE are strep addicts and attend meetings. I stand up with grace and dignity.....then say, "My name is Gail and I am an addict"....(LOL)

Gail,I just got the welcome package from the British Strep Society last week.I have been reading it alittle hear and there.It says the seeds and postage are free and your able to get 10 different packages of seeds.Hybrids or species or you can get a mix of both.Maybe Bonnie will pop in and tell us how to get the seeds.I think you email a lady and tell her which ones you want...Maybe we can all get different seeds and have a great big strep swap come next spring!!!

sounds great to me, Jannich.........I am going to mail my form to Dale tomorrow and even ask her (giving her my email) how to get seeds. Get back to you when I hear from her (or maybe Bonnie even sooner)

Now i am waiting for Dale's anwer to the UK membership and seed list.:o)

One question. On fun with gessies, what is the etiquette? Do I introduce myself or just lurk until I have a question?

That is a 'play around' site......you can't do anything wrong! Just introduce yourself (LOL)

Anna,Dale won't answer you.The british strep society will just send you the welcome package.Newsletter, member card and such.
