Hen limping

Argyle, TX(Zone 7b)

My Rhode Island Red hen is will not put her right leg down and hops on her left. Could it be dislocated? Could it be an easy fix? She does not seem to be in pain. I just noticed this morning and we will be gone all day today. We have a vet coming out next Tuesday to pull our dogs tooth. Would she (1) be Okay until then or should I (2) try to fix myself (3) take to vet now (4) shoot her? Thanks in advance, Mike

hi mike, i would start with number two. you likely have some tubes or samples of some sort of muscle rub... just be careful when you handle her, she won't like it and you don't want her further injured..... you need to check her for other marks, punctures, lost feathers etc anyhow, so you can get an idea how this happened..

so give her a rub down, both legs, all the way up to the drumstick. and ***check her foot pads, and toenails***... since as long as she is hopping she doesn't seem to be in pain, it oculd be it only hurts when she puts the foot down...

I certainly wouldn't shoot her. We have a hen that limps, has for a long time now. Can't figure out why, have found nothing and she seems to do fine even with the limp so we let her be. Check her out like TF said and then as long as she can get around and eat she will probably be fine.
