Hello from the Northern Ga- Chattanooga area

Rossville, GA

I'm a former "Yankee" from Upstate N.Y., that has moved down to the wonderful sunny climate of the South- + a growing season that lasts almost 12 months. No more fighting w/ the snow!! I am an avid gardener- + am enjoying learning about gardening in the South. We have done extensive re landscaping, including putting in a large brick raised garden, a large patio, + a walled-in garden room. We are now concentrating on filling a new pond, which is a whole new way of gardening- and alot to learn. My son is licensed to do stone work, + has done all of my new landscaping, including the pond. I was hoping to get some info., on Southern gardening, + maybe make some new friends. I have all of my family here w/ me, but they don't all share my enthusiasm w/ the gardens, although they love to hang-out in them. I have a 2 year old + an 8 month old granddaughter. The 2 year old loves to help me, by playing in the dirt, + rearranging the plants, after I decide where they are going. She's so much fun, even if she undoes what I get done. Well- enough "rambling"- Sharon

Welcome to the South. An excellent book for anyone new at gardening here is the "Southern Living Gardening" book. It gives excellent details and growing requirements, etc. Check your library for a copy and you'll probably buy one.
To Herbie43: She will soon be a "transplanted yankee"..........LOL.
