What do you think?

Pretty soon I'll be able to plant a wide range of plants that are just easy to care for. No effort, strong growers and easy to give people seeds and cuttings. LOL. This one and some kudzu would be great in the back yard.

Hmmmm, I presume you are thinking of planting it on your lagoon bank where it will really take off. ;-))))

Of course.

Have to replace the wax myrtle with something.

wow whats with all the negative stuff on it in plant files? I do find it humerous it is called 'punk tree' {{snicker snicker}} will we be seeing a new hairstyle core to go with the new tree LOL JK>>>>

Seabrook, SC(Zone 8b)

Gee, I have some popcorn tree seedlings you can have to go with it. That should really make your neighbors happy. I like the name "punk tree", too. Really gives you an idea of it's character.

LOL I still can't believe he had only one wax myrtle; that just doesn't sound right to me.

Corey, if you could figure out why you had only one wax myrtle you would not need the stock market. The first person to develop a WM repellent will be a millionaire.

LOL. My experience is 1 Wax Myrtle = forest of Wax Myrtle.
Yeah, Core, why didn't you have a couple hundred baby WM's under the one that met its demise?

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

That's how the wax myrtle got there. The whole bank was gums, maples, pines and wax myrtles. I let a few of each grow and mowed the rest down. In some cases sawed down. In fact it's an on going project. All those trees continuely come up. I still have a couple of myrtles left.

BTW wax myrtles when big enough actually block out enough sun to keep others from growing under themselves. At least the one that fell over did. Dirt and massive roots were all they was under it. I used to have to mow under it but not for the last 3 years or so. The tree was only 8 or 9 years old. Probably 20 ft high by 30 ft. wide.

I didn't realize they EVER stopped putting out the little shoots. So there's hope that - someday - I can stop cutting down the little suckers. :)
