What's This?

Anyone know what this plant is? I've not seen it before (that I can recall) and now have several. They've popped up around mulched plants. I've been known to toss seeds on the ground cover, so don't know if this is something planned or voluntary. I really appreciate anyone's thoughts.

Looks like pokeweed http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/576/ I like them and don't mind leaving a few around for the birds.

Thanks. If birds like them, it's a keeper.

Can I pick me a mess of it and carry it home....that song's gonna stay with me all day!

Good thing pokeweed isn't mentioned in any disco songs.lol

Do you happen to know what this is? I thought it was an amaranth, but now it's starting to look weedy.

Lynea, I think what you have is an Amaranth, although it may not be an ornamental one.

Here is another one, see what you think.

Does kinda look like the Pigweed to me.

Yes, thank you, that's it. I even gave some fish emulsion to that little sneak.lol It's going have to be pulled. I liked the way it looked there, so maybe I'll replace it with a real (read pretty) amaranth this time:0)
