Looks like I got zucchini.
(Sorry for the blurry pics. My camera hasn't been the same since I dropped it.)
It's a girl!
Congrats, indy_v!
Way to go Indy!
You're ahead of me. Mine all got diseased and croaked. That yellow one looks ready. You go by the color as well as the size. lite yellow is good, dark is past prime. I'd put in the fridge til I had some more. Besides, the more you pick the more the plant makes.
I've had lots of luck so far with no pests, so I hope it continues. Thanks everyone.
Awww - how cute they are!
Very nice. Do you know the varieties?
I don't know the varieties because the tag in the plants didn't get that specific.
I'm sad to report that Baby Girl Zucchini met an early demise. May she rest in peace. I harvested that yellow crookneck squash and I'm carrying it around in my pocket showing people the fruits of my labor. It's 2 inches long. I can tell that everyone is very impressed with my farm skills.;o) I think I'm ready to quit my job and live off the land.
I checked the plants for any mushy stems or bugs. They look ok so maybe they're just getting warmed up.
I'm chasing those vine borer moths around the garden, those suckers are FAST!
They're orange with black wings? I haven't seen anything like that around here but I'll be on the lookout. Very pretty moth but I don't want to see them in my garden!
I had put netting around my squash when I planted it out, but a couple of the borer moths managed to make their way inside it - and were trapped there.
Now the vines have outgrown the netting, and I've seen a moth or two flitting about with Evil Intent.
nice going indy. they look great.
LOL, re: farmer Indy! I think my friends think I THINK I invented gardening! I'm sure they all roll their eyes when I walk away. Except perhaps the day I was walking around with my 16 pound Jarradhale...
