here kitty kitty.....
alright people, I'm onto you, stop this kitten-peddling immediately please, I already want them and I can't get any more
they're so darn cute...
If you want kittens, you should come to the Clarendon County Animal Shelter, where I volunteer. We were deluged with kittens (and their parents) this spring, and they're all so lovely. I clean the kittens' room in the morning, and they chase the vacuum cleaner, and they chase the mop, and they climb my legs. I've never had a job where I laugh so much!!! And then go home and cry, thinking about how they REALLY should be in cozy, loving homes, sitting in laps and snuggling.
Kara can I bring you one next weekend? really it's no problem...would you like to see pics of the other new kittys? JK... what is not to love about cats is my opinion...(ok male spray...thats the only thing that comes to mind)
newbie- love your cats!
thea-I admire you for working at the shelter...that must be very hard work on your heart strings....
No kidding! I can't bring myself to volunteer at ours because I know I'd want to bring them all home.
Red, my babies all came from a drop-off I started feeding in Jan, when she had an injured foot. I have a couple of threads in the Pet forum about her. She's the **best** pet mom I've ever seen in my life - it amazes both me & my mom to watch her. They are SOOOOOO much fun to watch! I only have 2 of the kittens hand-tamed so far; I can pick them up every day & pet them, and they're purring for me. But I haven't even been able to touch the other 2 yet. Mom wants me to give a couple away, but I can't bring myself to do that 'cus I'd worry about them.
Here's my favorite, Gray Cloud, on top of the runt, Alvin.
ooohhh, Gray Cloud and Alvin are so beautiful newbie!!!!
Thank you rednyr, it is tough, because I just love them all so much, and I'm so afraid for them. When I go to bed at night, I fall asleep thinking of their pretty faces. I spend a lot of time praying that each one will be adopted, by kind loving people who appreciate them. Unrealistic but I try to stay optimistic! At least I can give them one day at a time, with lots of hugs and constant chitchat. They LOVE the attention. And they've added so much happiness to my life.....
OMG - that pic is just precious!!! :)))
Gray Cloud is my fav - I have a thing for gray cats, and his markings are beautiful. He's already my baby, too - does the tail wrap on me, kneads the ground, & shimmies his tail for me. I started feeding him cat treats tonight & he loves them. hehe Hopefully I can get the other 2 to come to me with the treats.
when we found a momma cat and two of her kittens in our storage building they kitties hissed and spit like they were 10' tall....I finally put on gloves, got a box, brought them in the house for a few hours and fed them ....they got the picture....they stopped hissing and being afraid and now a year later are true joys in our life....here is mittens last year...I think he's praying for some more flowers for me LOL
That is the cutest kitten in a garden picture I have ever seen. I love the way he is snuggling with that plant.
It really is an absolutely adorable pic!! It should be entered in the Photo Contest! How do you do that?
Mittens is so sweet!!!!! He was probably purring; he's so content and blissful, his little eyes are closed. You just want to pick him up and cuddle him.....
Adorable!
I am going to unwatch this thread because I am afraid I will find myself with a new kitten if I don't. :-)
ah tiger lily those are great! nice to see your son picking up your good habits...LOL
OMG, tigerlily! Sooo dang cute!!! I'll be right over, lol!!! Look at the spotted belly on that puppy...how are your dogs taking to the newest additions?
lol rednyr....that was pretty good! It never occurred to me-how perceptive. The best part was that I told him not to get one until he had moved out...and then as soon as I saw the puppy-that was pretty much it, I hate to say. He and his girlfriend love to tell that story.
Well Bev-thats a good question. You have met Bear-the huge dog (110 lbs ) who thinks that all the strangers (to him ) that come over are specifically coming over to kill him (thats how scared he is-thankfully that only lasts a few minutes-until they start to pay attention to Bill-the other dog lol) would not have anything to do with Bentley-growled every time Bentley came near him-until I started to encourage them to play together. Now they are good friends. The dogs don't mind the kitten either.
On the other hand-its Mango (the stray cat from last summer-hey! at least this one was dropped off at the end of our driveway-took me 5 days to catch her, and then months to tame her-she still avoids other people) who is the big problem. She is not happy about Seona. She emits this weird growl and will stalk her any chance she gets. Seona is really scared of her. Buddy-the huge black/grey cat-the one that sprawls anywhere loves her and plays with her all the time, and I think protects her from Mango. I have seen him go after Mango when she is stalking Seona.
This is my last stray cat......I swear she is cute though huh?? LOL
Yeah, she is! I hope all your critters learn to get along...nothing worse than feeling like you have divided loyalties, lol! And good for Mango:-)
lol what do you mean..."good for Mango" ??? I am about to start swatting her if she keeps this s....t up! She gets lots of loving, Bear is as neurotic an animal as I need!
Duh, me...good for Buddy, I mean...Too much beach water in the ears must affect the brain, lol!
I love all these photos, the one of the guard of the birdbath is SO cute!!!!
OMG, Tigerlily - I absolutely love the one of the puppy & kitten sleeping on their backs, with his big ol' paws over her head!! I just made it my desktop background.
All of these are such precious pics!
thea I adore your gray tiger!....both sparrow (as in jack, my little pirate LOL he has 'eyeliner' on one eye and not the other...too cute) and mittens have taken to laying in the birdbaths...I think the concrete must feel pretty cool in these hot temps since two years running now if I don't see em I know where to look LOL
I appreciate everyone sharing their pics of the 'other parts' of our families...sometimes I think the 4 legged ones are more sane even if Mango gets snippety I bet we could all look at our family trees and name an aunt or uncle that acts just the same! LOL
Ho Thea, you thought you would get me but I am not watching this thread, remember????
:-)))))
You are right rednyr-and sorry everyone for not saying how cute everyones kittens are-I was trying not to look too closely at any of them! I have this little problem of not being able to say no...if I don't look (sound familiar Ardesia?? lol), they dont exist. Anyway-they are all adorable. too adorable, in fact. Its a wonder that there are ever any stray kittens out there.
Mango is still my baby (she took a lot of work taming her!) even if she was on the top of my bed last night poised to jump down on Seona-who was asleep.
