I live in NE...outside of Boston. Is it my imagination, or is there an increase in birdsong(s)? Over the past 8-10 years I distinctly noticed a decrease in bird activity about my yard. I'm delighted to be awkened by morning songs and relax to the ritual of increased evening communications. The other day a pair of, what I think are, Downy Woodpeckers, pecked away at my feeder. At work, in downtown Boston, I saw a bluebird on brownstone rooftops. I am new to birding and wonder about this change. Rain? Maybe I'm just being silly.
Thank you in advance.
General Bird Song Question
Maybe better green space policies adopted by the city authorities (e.g. not being too tidy, and instead leaving patches of dense weeds and undergrowth for birds to nest in), and/or more individual people going organic in their personal gardens and not using pesticides and herbicides. Both would help increase bird populations.
Resin
Or maybe since the Big Dig is done...lol
I'm new to birding also so i just thought that I am just now paying attention to it that's why the air seems to be filled with song now. I can actually pick out the different songs and squawks. Catbirds crack me up, Cardinals have several different calls, the Chickadees wake me up at 5am.
Or, maybe you are just silly. ;)
Welcome to Dave's Garden!
You really think the Dig is OVER? We'll be paying for it until the entire project collapses. I love the improvements but don't trust it much.
I'm learning the bird song but they are tricking me.
Guess I need to study more.
I'd like to go on a lecture through Mt Auburn Cemetary in Cambridge or Plum Island.
I just missed the Henry Thoreau-fundraiser around Walden...:-(
