Tiny Fairy Terrarium garden

South, TX

I posted this on the Tiny garden forum. Here are two pictures of my terrarium that I updated today with a Cicely Mary Barker Fairy. I love her fairies. I added a little mirror, big Burr Oak Acorn, pine cone and little fence. I also trimmed the plants. I glued a little green ceramic bird to look like my Chipper!

I can't do outdoor gardening while I recover, but I can do this inside! As well as take care of my AV's!!!

So pretty Bonnie. I love the Flower Fairys! That is a very pretty one!

Great job Sally! That is a lovely terrarium and the fairy really adds to it.

Mrsbonnie ... I love that fairy hanging over your plant stand, guarding your plants!

I guess we have a couple of folks here on this forum who like fairies, huh? I know Kimskreations/Kim collects fairies too. Me, I collect Angel's but love fairies also and have a couple of little fairy statues out in the garden. Mine aren't anything special though, not collectibles like that one of yours Sally. Now I will have to go google Cicely Mary Barker Fairies to see the collection! I love the vivid color in your fairy and the addition of little "Chipper" is really is a nice touch!

I have a terrarium I made about 3 years ago with a couple of plants and a ceramic angel sitting on a rock.

I bought three of the angels on clearance (Avon) and had no clue what I was going to do with them, then decided to put one in a terrarium. I ended up making terrariums for my sister and my niece using artificial plants because they aren't into gardening and any live plants. I just filled the bottom of their jars with white sand and pebbles and placed a mirror in the bottom with the angel sitting on a rock looking into the "water" (mirror.) Let me take mine outside where the light is better and take a picture.

The glass is scratched and dusty but here it is:

Very pretty, Lin. I just have a "thing" for plants in glass. They look so pretty. I love underwater arrangements also. My g.mother used to have flowers under water. I always have one underwater arrangement made.

I have angels out in my garden. I love angels and fairies.

Oh, I would love to see an underwater arrangement! I'm curious how that works.

Wow! Those are beautiful! How long do they last in water like that?

Another AV, Pink Summit. Did this one when I was barely walking after my surgery, ha! I HAD to play with plants!

Lin, it depends on the flower. Each is diff. Some, just one day, some go on and ON!

(Zone 1)

Very nice! I might have to give that a try. Makes a very pretty and unique centerpiece!

I my another fairy terrarium today. I used a gorgeous new orb I bought at the Rockport Art Fest. The fairy is looking at it. Has a little opal inside. Looks like planets and stars. Really pretty. I bought a pretty necklace too, another glass piece.

That is the sweetest image!

(Zone 1)

That is really nice Sally. I love that orb! I've never seen anything like it before and it looks wonderful with the fairy in her little garden!

I love wardian cases! Have talked about getting one for years and never have. Check out some of these: http://www.floridaplants.com/Store/pottery10.htm http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=wardian+case+terrariums&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title. One of these days I might break down and get one!

One of those is the same as mine. I have seen that site. Mine was less expensive, they are all so pretty. I had forgotton about that site. I got mine at Gardeners Supply.

(Zone 1)

Oh, I get Gardener's Supply catalogs and I have seen some really nice ones in there! It's a great company!

(Zone 1)

Your's looks like this one: http://www.gardeners.com/Tabletop%20Conservatory/IndoorGardening_Cat,35-450,default,cp.html that was originally $40, now on sale for $20! I might have to buy one of these at that price!

South, TX

I got that one. It was the first price, but I got two other things, so I got it a bit cheaper for the third item or something. It is nice, perfect size. I put it on one of my shelves in my sunroom. It is SO pretty under the light.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Gee, Lin, at that price I am tempted also!

(Zone 1)

Isn't it a great price Gail? I would not pay $40 but hey, for $20 I think it's a bargain! I have seen many that go for waaay high prices ... in the hundreds! This is a small one but I love the way Sally has done hers as a little fairy garden.

Can't you just picture it with a little mini sinningia or a couple of mini Av's?

I put violets in them also. You can use them for anything.
