Anyone have any extra micro mini sinningias to trade?
I have a terrarium container, and want to do a mini garden scene in it, and I'd like to use micro mini sinningias.
I have some plants to trade, as well as garden supplies.
Please email me if interested, and for a list of my current plants for trade.
Thank you
-Taylor

Taylor--
I got S globulosa seeds started--see microscope post above
they aren't up yet but if they do germinate and grow I could end up with way too many
I think its supposed to be a small species

Thank you , Deb, but I was really wanting one of the micro minis, and have one in the works.
Thank you, anyway! & congrats on all your tinies :0)
gessie, sorry Taylor, don't want to steal your thread, but where do you get your sinnigias?

Streptocarpus and Sinningia are both members of the Gesneriad Family of plants, along with African Violets, Kohleria, Chirita, Smithiantha, and a few others I can't think of right now.
Strep's: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=streptocarpus&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search

Gessiegail is a pro at growing both of these plants!
Thank you for the information, I thought that sinningia was related to gloxinia but i was afraid to say it out loud to show ignorance. I have a couple of streptos and african violets and I love them. I would really like to do some gloxinia. I have looked at the Rob's Violet Barn site and love all that stuff. I always hesitate to do these plants because we heat our house with wood and that is so dry and the fluctuation in temperatures from day and evening can be pretty drastic. I will have to get brave and try anyway.
How about a large apothecary jar, or terrarium jar, or cloche, for it, to keep up the humidity in winter?
That is an idea worth considering. I have had African violets off and on through the years and never had a problem; so if the others are as easy then maybe my house temps. aren't as big an issue as I am fearing.
I just received seed from the Gesneriad Society for the Jack Evans mixes, Charles Lawn mixes and more of the larger sinningias (used to be called Gloxinia). I have been told that I will need 4 lights to a shelf for these when they really start growing.
