Tracie...

I can probably be there.. Will you need the lowboy?? LMK!! I can be flexible on the food!!

Becky

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Count me in for this date. Sorry, already committed for the 26th but I think it will be good to have us there 2 wkends. You just don't realize how much there is to do til you get started!
I think Sandi is wanting to ride with me. She can't lift much but she can write on markers, if nothing else! lol
I have some 1gs, & many 3g, 5g, & 10gs! Will bring a lot. Got a big shovel & 2 small ones.
LMK whatelse you think you might need.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

YAY.. Linda... will be good to see you again..

Tracie... will you need the lowboy both days?? where are you girl??

Becky

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

sorry, guys. i dont have internet at my house and just got over here to my dads. i would love the lowboy for at least the day you can attend, i guess we could see if i would need it later depending on what gets done. :) i cant wait to meet all you great folks in person. the only other thing i might need would be some sort of potting mix. i am planning on buying some fine pine bark mulch and big bags of potting mix. i like to mix the two so it isnt as rich as the potting mix alone. i lost several dls to crown rot last year by potting them up in the expensive potting soil! thanks again

Tracie.. as far as I know right now I can come both Saturdays.... are there any men coming also..so we can get that swing set hauled over to your dads??

Becky

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

i am pretty sure there will be at least one man, David, coming. of course, my dad will come and maybe i can talk my brother into helping. my dad will take it apart ahead of time, so that moving it will be easier. thanks soooo much!

Christi

God bless all of you that are helping.

Humble, TX

I will come and help too. Smockette can we ride together??? DH will keep Gemma so it will just be me.
Tabitha

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I can't come on either of the dates. But I do have a boat load of pots. Is there anyone that I can meet to hand them off? I'm off for the summer (love being a teacher) so I can bring them to someone.

Anne

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

I way to far to come, but have been in the position Aggiegirl has been myself, so know how heartbreaking the situation is especially when ya have children to move.

I have abunch of one gallon pots I can tie together and wrap up and send to help out if somebody tells me where to send them.

Aggie, God be with you and your children as you make this move. He has a better place and better plans for you and your children and to all the Texans jumping in to help, well we don't do things as big in Alabama as Texas does, but we got heart, so here a big hug for all of you joining in to help her. ((((((((((((((((HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)))))))))))))

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

thank you so much for your offer! but, i think we will have enough pots and it would be sooo expensive for you to send yours. i have quite a few, and several folks are bringing more. i am overwhelmed by the generousity of so many great people here on this site! thanks again

tracie

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

hey guys,
i thought i would get updates from those that thought they would be able to come on the 19th. thanks so much!

tracie

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm coming.... what time do you want us there??
Becky

Gilmer, TX

Had poanned to come but my cousin arrived from NC to pack up her mother's house. This is a little more than we bargained for. Took us 11 hours to pack the sewing room. |I will continue to watch in case we are needed at a later date.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Just wondering... since I am only seeing maybe 4 of us coming to help.. why don't we just all load up and go to McD's or something for lunch?? We could still bring drinks..etc??
Becky

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

whatever everyone wants to do is fine with me. i was thinking maybe we could get started about 9, if that is not too early for everyone. would give us a little time before the worst of the heat.

tracie

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

That's ok with me, but Tabitha and Linda are coming from near Houston...and they may ride on in with me.. I'll check with them...K?...K

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Actually grabbing something to eat is better for us considering the distance. Heck, a bucket of chicken & rolls is just as good. Too heavy food in the heat will slow down or stop work.
I think Sandi is going to come with us also.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Linda.. soo glad Sandy is coming to!! Looks like we won't have as many this Saturday... and chicken sounds good, but I am open to anything ya'll want!
I am trying to talk Tabitha into coming here and then ya'll can just ride up with me. I am 45 mins S. from Lufkin..LMK.. and I will dmail the directions.
Tracie.. BTW... we DO need to know how to get to your house..lol...LMK..

Becky

Humble, TX

I think I will be going straight to Lufkin or we might get side tracked at becky's house and show up when the sun is blazing hot and get nothing done. But maybe a field trip after we work...if we are good and work hard! Becky, you know I love you!
Tabitha

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

guys, i know this is a pain, but could each of you that is driving dmail me and i can send you directions. i actually posted a map and directions on another post and someone dmailed me that it was kinda dangerous to do that on a public forum, especially because they know i am single. so, i delected the driving info. thanks again,

tracie

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

If Sandi & I are carpooling w/Tabitha, you don't need to send us directions as long as you send them to her w/a local #.
Trying to co-ordinate with AuntAnne in CS to get more pots. You will have more on the 19th than we can fill, I bet! But then they will be there for the '26th folks'! lol

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

that is fine. please, just the ones that are driving dmail me and i will send all the info, including my cell number. :)

Tracie,

My brother works for NPR and would like to do a story on all the help you are getting with your garden. His name is Wade Goodwyn and his email is wgoodwy123@yahoo.com. He would love to talk to you and come out and see how you guys get on!

Lauren

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

hi,
i got your dmails and i contacted him today. boy was i suprised that NPR was interested. but, it would be great to actually have some positive news on how great folks can be to a total stranger! the amount of generousity and compassion shown by all of you great gardeners has been overwhelming. :) i sent your brother a few pics of my garden and he is going to get back to me. so, fellow DGers, it looks like your efforts are going to be reported on!

tracie

Montclair, NJ

Great!! I was just overwhelmed by how a virtual community could so quickly become a real one! So much for the internet isolating us!! lol! Much luck!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Tracie... does this mean I have to frufru up?? NOW.. how can I get any work done in my stilettoes??? HUH?? LOL.. I haven't a clue what NPR is.. guess I need to read more!

It's here girl!!I am coming by myself... well my DH is coming too.. Tabitha is probably right..lol we wouldn't be there by 9 if they come here!! Everyone is welcome for the road trip back here!

See you girls in the morning!!

Becky

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

NPR is National Public Radio... no photos, so don't bother fru-fruing up! LOL I wish I could come help, too. :-)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I stopped by HD & got 6 bags of top soil. I think that is more than your landlords desire!
Going home & load my car with pots & plan on heading out early in the morning!!! & that is really against my religion, on Sat mornings! lol
Still got to talk to Madrid & Smock.
Got my maps & phone # printed, already in the car. I have been known to go off & leave them on my desk here @ the Farm but not this time!
Mana!!!
:~)

Richland, MI(Zone 5b)

Good luck tomorrow! I will be thinking of all of you! All the best wishes to everyone! Tracie, I think you're in good hands!
