Sign of the Times?????

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

What is going on in this world that people think they can take a pet in & when times get hard, just dump them?
Just took in a kitten in May that was starving----turned out she was expecting---now have 5 babies!
NOW, have a young male? cat--again, starving so bad it was eating bird food that had dropped to the ground!!!!
My husband & I have such big hearts for these animals that we will do with-out to feed them. Where does it end?
Can-not bring in the new one as have a very dominate male & the new one looks like it's about 6 months old. Will have to feed it outside until we figure something else out!
We already had 3 dogs & 5 cats before we took in the other one. Now have 11 cats & another that wants to live here!!! Will take care of it, no matter what!
Just don't understand people dumping pets!!!!!!
They don't have any way of taking care of them selves so they rely on us to do so.
Just can't seem to turn them away!!!!! It breaks our hearts to see an animal hurting, but how much can we do?
Checked with the Animal Control & they said, as long as the animals don't bother any-one else, we could have as many as we want---how many are too much???
We have always been responsable pet owners, spayed/neutered all of ours.
Guess what I'm saying/asking, is this a sign of the times--people just dump their pets because they are going through hard times??? Seems a little heartless!!!!!!
