Kyle's Pink

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

This is an awesome pink that Kyle sent me in a trade a couple of years ago. I think it skipped blooming last year, but it put out three large branches. This year, it has inflo's on all three branches! The inflo's are large and multi-branched too. Thanks, Kyle!

Here's a yellow from the co-op. I'm sure that it is 'Aztec Gold' as all the characteristics match, and I'm also sure that some of my yellows from the co-op are different from each other. One has very red new leaves, and I think it actually might be pink or red -- not that it matters at that price.

Here is 'Kauka Wilder' just starting to open. Man, that fragrance is the best.

This seedling took four-and-a-half years to bloom, but it is a lovely pink.

This is 'Siam Ruby,' which is starting to get darker with the increased heat.

All so beautiful, Clare!

Clare, I bought a Kauka Wilder cutting in late Feb. I read somewhere that this cutting is hard to root. Mine is doing fine but it's very slow growing with the leaves, but the Lucky Star cutting I bought at same time is growing leaves like crazy!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, guys!

LiliMerci, Kauka Wilder is a red, and reds are said to be harder to root than other colors, but I've never had trouble rooting one. Once the heat gets going, your KW should too.

Beautiful, Clare. Kyle's Pink looks great! Sure wish I would see some inflos on mine. :-)

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Kathleen. I bet you will soon. Are you fertilizing yet? Maybe that will give your plants a boost that they need. Try one with a high last number (potassium).

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I gave them all Dynamite in May when they started putting out leaves. Is that not enough?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

That's fine. It's slow release, but I can't remember how long it is supposed to last for. Does it say on the bottle? If it is lasts 3 months, you can do it again in August. Some of mine start blooming early in the season, and some wait until the end of the season. Hope you see flowers soon;-)

I think it's 9 months. That's why it appealed to me - I can never remember to fertilize! CRS :-}

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Oh, nice. I've got to get that the next time I go to Home Depot:-) It's definitely a bonus to just do it once and forget about it.

That's where I got mine. I just double-checked; it is 9 months, in the red package.

Clare, every plant (8 or 9) of Kyle's pink is blooming this year too. The big tree had on branch with flowers, but then I keep taking cuttings off. 28 inches long each. quicker trees that way.

:-)

It's a gorgeous flower, Kyle. Wow! That's awesome that you are making new trees from cuttings. It's a great pink for sure with a great fragrance. Maybe you should name it (for real) and register it with the Plumeria Society of America^_^ I like the name 'Pink Eclipse.'

Does kauka wilder really smell like coconut suntan lotion? I think I read that somewhere...
It is really pretty.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

It does. It's fabulous. It smells like Hawaii to me as you step off the plane at the airport.

MMMmmm! I grew up by the beach and I love the smell of coconut oil - Hawaiian Tropic!

Great looking flowers That pink looks like there big flowers too! very nice Great to have 3 inflos on 3 tips very nice.

Clare, I like that name too! This one is a great beginers type because it grows big, fast and blooms every season I have 2 gal pots of it all over the green house from last years cuttings, they are 4 1/2 ft tall each and blooming already.

Was supposedly a yellow seedling. LOL Someone brought it back as a baby from Hawaii.

Kyle :-)

Yeah, I bet that happens alot, but you got a winner. It smells so good. I'm so glad that you shared it with me. I hope your Celadine is blooming for you as well. Here is your pink today.

Here's as close to a solid yellow as I have. I just cut a tip and grafted it for Luc at Florida Colors because he really wanted this one. It has an outstanding fragrance in my view. The only problem with it is that the flowers don't often open all the way. It is also a slow grower as I only have a couple of tips on this one after several years.

Things have started very slow this season for some reason. I am just now getting some flowers to open. This is a four-petalled first bloom on Nassau.

Also a four-petalled first bloom on 'Grove Farm.' Another one with an outstanding fragrance and gorgeous color.

This one is 'Pacific Pearl,' a local cultivar named by C-Stars Wholesale Nursery. It too has a very strong outstanding fragrance.

'Singapore' is one that I would never be without because of its fragrance. I noticed today how similar the fragrance is to Epiphyllum oxypetalum.

This one is 'Lurline' that I got from Florida Colors Nursery. It is look pretty light for a 'Lurline.' 'Lurline' is supposed to get some deep rich colors. We'll have to see what it looks like in a few months after a long period of more intense heat.

An unknown white that seems to be a great bloomer with a sweet fragrance.

This one is my multi-grafted tree with 'Samoan Fluff' and 'Marion B.' blooming at the same time.

Here is my multi-grafted tree again. There will be four cultivars blooming at once: 'Samoan Fluff,' 'Marion B.,' 'Pinwheel Rainbow,' and 'Pacific Pearl.' I may still graft a few more cultivars to this one.

'Siam Ruby,' from my dear friend in Thailand. I put white in the background so that the red would show up nicely.

Lastly, 'Typhoon' is a beauty for sure -- another treasure from Thailand.

Beautiful, Clare!

The solid yellow is very pretty. I have never seen a solid yellow before.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, guys! Yes, a solid yellow is less common. Usually white accompanies the yellow.
