I had to chuckle big time yesterday morning when I went outside at about 7am 'ish and saw the therm doing this already...obviously it is wrong but it made me laugh,.....
if it's broke how do ya fix it LOL
As hot as it has been in good old SC we sure don't need that do we? LOL
heavens no....95 at 2pm is bad enough! I couldn't imagine the day starting at 110 - if I wanted that I would move to AZ LOL
Yup, rednyr, got pretty much the same message from my GH "atomic clock" in the greenhouse this morning. This usually infallible instrument told me that that the "month" was "18", and the day was "88"... Even this old fart could figure out it probably wasn't right. Moved it to a shaded shed, and it readjusted itelf, and now it's dead-on accurate... not even 12 hrs. later...So they heal themseves. But the bottom line here is that a GH in this climate can get REALLY hot real fast...
It's going to be a long hot and humid summer. I guess we'll have to grin and water it!!
tc - LOL!!!
your themometer was measuring the temp of the sun's rays, not the air temp. no temp reading in the sun is ever accurate
well I would tend to agree if it was pm not am maybe I better find a better place for my wally world therm...or better yet..buy a good one LOL
stono...u better play the lottery with all those 8's showing up in your life at once !or maybe poker...LOL
Grin and water it is exactly right!
Anyway I've had enough.I'm going up to the mountains on Tuesday where the air is cool.At least in the mornings and at night.
rednyr, I'm not concerned with convincing you about the effect of the sun's rays on thermometers, but that is why weather people laugh at the term It's 100 Degrees in the Shade! No measurements in the sun are accurate, even a.m. As a matter of fact, at 7 a.m. here the sun shines on a large thermometer on my back porch, and, in the summer, if the air temp is 75, the thermometer is likely to read 95.
:)~
DSB have a great time in the mountains! that should bring you some welcome relief! both from watering everything and the heat.....
dsb -have a great time in the mountains. It looks like we might get a little rain tonight!! It rained real good in Conway this afternoon. But , then again it always rains there and we get nothing!
Not a drop here yesterday even though we had storm advisories up until 9:00 pm.
Maybe we will get some today.
We actually had a 1/2" of rain last evening; nothing was ever so welcome.
Our car had a collision with a deer last week and my car thermometer is swinging back and forth between 58 and 113 this week. I hope the bodyshop can fix the electronics because that thermometer was the most accurate one we had. LOL
Have fun in the mountains Nancy, The Mast Store's recent newsletter mentioned something cool going on in Boone but I have already deleted it and I don't remember what it was - just that it sounded good. Pitiful, aren't I?????
ardesia, I am so glad someone in SC got some rain. When my neighbor had his grass cut I had to bring my little puppies in the house. It looked like a dust storm out there. No, it was a dust storm. LOL
The funny thing is that we have just had a new moisture sensor installed on our sprinkler system. Today I changed out another sprinkler head and when I wanted to try it out to check for leaks the water would not come on. Apparently the sensor decided 1/2" of rain was all the moisture I was entitled to.
OMG ardesia has moisture police installed now....LOL
