If I top up the potting soil around my brug and some soil covers the base of the stem will this cause the stem to rot???
Thanks :)
Steven
quick question :)
Steven,
Are you finding the feeder roots coming up to the surface? To answer your question, it won't harm the plant. However, for maximum result. I'd recommend upgrade your plant to a larger pot to provide much needed room for the plant to grow and maximize its potential.
Thanks Lily-love! The reason I asked about topping up the soil is just because its sunk down and is a little low. Should I repot or wait till roots poke out of the bottom of the pot?? If not I'll get a new pot as soon as possible! What size is reccomended?
Thanks,
Steven
If it was sunk too low, by all mean topping up a little won't hurt it. It may help to stablilize the top portion. How big is your tree? I use 1 gallon pot for a foot tall cutting. 4-5 feet tall tree with the lateral branches, the bigger the pot the better. A ten gallons or bigger. I've seen people used half wiskey barrel for larger tree.
Perfect looking healthy brug!!! You're doing everything right with that little baby! Keep up the good job, and enjoy.
Happy gardening, Steven.

YAY! thanks, Kim!!!!
Steven :)
PS... since brugs are a cousin to the tomato.. you can plant deeper and deeper, won't hurt em. :)
Thanks ZZ, it's time to top dress my Brug then :)
See you learn something new everyday, brugs related to tomatoes, wow, thanks zz, Clemen

I just topped mine with some worm castings. I do it twice per year. Makes the soil seem so rich and dark, and maybe hold the water better.
I just saw those at the garden centre!!! Do they make alot of difference in growth???
I've been fertilizing with almost every watering, I think thats why he's looking so good! hehehe, I'm such a proud brug daddy :)
