Kept hearing such rave reviews from ya'll that I peeked at the site...OMG...what gorgeous plants!! I purchased 2 packets of seeds (big spender, eh?) Tootsie x Little Miss Lili and Ma Belle Amie x Day Dreams. So here's the question - is there a way to keep these till next spring or would it be best to go ahead and start them now - while keeping fingers crossed for a warm fall? Thanks for any guidance on this!!
So about that seedsprout...
Wanted the Tootsie x Little Miss Lili seeds but they were sold out. What is the "normal" price for seeds at the beginning of the season - does anyone know?
Depends on the plants they are from and how much you want to pay. A few years ago you could not get seeds like yours for love nor money, they just were not to be had. There are lots of really good seeds to be had these days. good luck.
If you start the seeds now, you will have to overwinter the plants to get spring blooms in 2009. It's too late to get fall blooms from seeds planted now.
I would plant them in October or November for Spring blooms.. or fall depends on the seedling.
They will keep for a year so no worries about that.. germination rate may drop a little is all.
Zz thank you...I think I will start them this fall - that will be something fun while waiting for spring. If I decided to save some though, any special storage considerations?
Ahh gordo...thanks much - that's what I wanted to know. ^_^
I don't so either either I go in search of or reuse another jar that's been cleaned out (pickle jar etc). Your Mason Jar collection sounds like my pot collection. Errr....that didn't sound right....my plastic plant pots....there much better.^_^
Hey Chantel, not surprised to see you here. Thanks to you and some other nice people here I checked out seedspout. I did the naughty and ordered 3 Ecuador Pink, Jerad’s Joy and New Orleans lady. I’m doing the happy burg dance and hoping there as nice as everyone says.
For those of you who remember me and my yellow one. I promise to be a better burg mom this time and follow the advice of the experts here at DG.
LOL Donna, amen!!! I forgot about my one and only pot last year...and am trying to make amends this year. Can't wait to see your pics!!!
Thanks, I’ll post pics when they come in. I tried to winter one last year and made some massive mistakes by following the directions on the tag. There is a thread on it buried down on page 2 or 3. The people on this forum were wonderful and tried to help, but there was no saving it.
Ok...if anyone finds that thread...I'd like to read it (I'll look for it as well). I would like to either over winter or take cuttings and over winter them...depending what is the easiest. I've brought my plumerias in to my living room last couple of winters & just let them go semi-dormant.

That should be the link.
I never got back to the post because I popped the sacroiliac joint in my hip and spent the following week or so flat out. It's still sitting outside in the pot.

Ahhh bless you Donna!!! Hope you recovered ok and are doing alright now!!! I actually rec'd my 2 little ole seed orders from them today. Put them in a jar in the fridge as gordo suggested. Will wait a few months to plant 1/2 of them
Still recovering but much better, I get to sit around a lot and play on the pc as you can see. Another week or so and I’ll be able to start weeding and working in garden. Good luck with seeds, it will be interesting to see them from the start.
