I know House Wrens are not well liked by most but I've had a good time watching the progression of their nest and the busy lifestyle.
For the last few days I've been able to hear the chicks all the way across the yard.
Heres one of the parents with a nice juicy spider like bug for the little ones. 4 pics
House Wren w/ Babe
Nice pics!
Sorry I forgot to resize the first pic
Doesn't matter, the DG software does that automatically anyway.
Resin
Good ones pelle! Baby birds always bring a smile to my face, wait until they come out the nest and do their wing flaps, so cute.
Resin, the kb size is nearly 6 times the others, first pic is nearly 18kb, yes it does make a huge difference to those on dial up. No matter pelle, the others are great and I can get a good idea of the first.
Why are they not well liked? Because they are survivors?
because they are competitors for other cavity nesters; they pierce eggs in an attempt to claim that nest. I really like them anyway. I can never believe how loud they are. We have them for such a very short time here.
So strange that two images can be 800 px wide and such file size different.
Lovely shots, Pelle. Baby birds are just gorgeous.
Thank you. I really love their call, its so fluid sounding.
Cute baby! Those giant gapes are adorable. Have you seen their nest? One began a nest on top of a hosp nest in one of my blue bird boxes. It is completely constructed from small twigs. The twigs can cover the entranceway in such a way that the wrens can squeeze through but they are safe from other birds. They must then place some soft material for the eggs to lie on. I had to clear it out of the box.
Sharp and clear shots, Pelle. Must be lots of fun watching them. Where is the box located in your yard?
I can see twigs up near the entrance. The box is in a garden towards the back fence.
Very cute Pelle...I've never seen a House Wren. I love it when the babies open wide!!
Love your pics! I was having the same thoughts about the little House I have taken so many pics of. But I see it everyday and love hearing it sing away!
Rose, you've NEVER seen a house wren? Wow, that's hard to believe with all your birds. I tell you, they are small but that voice is soooooo loud. If you ever heard it, you'd know who you had1
I think the Carolina Wrens are much louder than the House Wrens.
They are very small.
Pelle,
Cute baby! :-)
We have some too that took over a decorative birdhouse, so very loud but cute, they are so tiny. I'll try and get a pic.
Love your pics pelle! Love babies with their gaping mouths. We have the house wren down here in early spring for a while and then in the fall for a few days. I have a Carolina Wren sitting on eggs in a hanging planter right now. Both little birds with BIG voices!!
