This is the biggest bloom I have ever seen on a hibiscus. I was just blown away by this thing!

It has ants on it, in fact all my hibs have ants. I don't see any aphids, but the ants sure do love these things too.

I have lots of pictures of this, but to get the feeling of the size of the thing, here is my hand next to it.

Very pretty!

I'd definitely keep checking for aphids on a regular basis--aphids LOVE hibiscus and I can almost guarantee if you have ants crawling on your plants there are going to be aphids there too, and they're easier to get rid of when there's only a few of them!

that's what I thought too, there are ants everywhere. :(

I bet you'll find aphids within a few days, definitely keep your eyes open for them! I'd probably give things a quick spray with insecticidal soap now, at the very least it'll help keep the ant population down and it might help nip an aphid problem in the bud.

I agree with Liz, I bet there are aphids in hiding there - somewhere. Don't wait for any damage, give them a spritz ASAP. If you don't have insecticidal soap on hand any old dish liquid will work. I use 1 tsp. per gallon and I spray in the evening so the foliage won't get burnt in the sunlight. Even a daily hard spray with plain water will help to keep them at bay.
