Thanks

Just a little note, I am so glad i decided to join here. You guys have been loads of help with everything. When my 2 months is up I will pay for a yr. It is well worth the lil bit of $$ I just wish all you crazy chicken farmers lived just a lil bit closer to me. Maybe one day we will get good at bating our eggs and start a mini co-op amongst ourselves. Im sure gonna give it a try.
Thanks

Can we call it the "Crazy Chicken Co-op"? Or is it Crazy Chicken Coop....LOL

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Oh yes....crazy for sure! How about the Crazy Underground Chicken Slaves....or CUCS for short? LOL ^_^

(just realized that could be read wrong......geez. In my head I am thinking that CUCS could be pronounced kooks, or cucks......not with a short o, ok?)

Oh how funny. I am laughing so hard I have tears.

Glenwood, IA

My DH always asked, 'Did you learn that on your crazy chicken forum?' I always laugh. I don't mind being called crazy.

hahahaha...>CUCS..that is hilarious.

Lodi, United States

My DH refers asks "Are you talking to your Chicken Heads"?

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

THAT's IT!!!!! [picture charlie Browns little sister screaming and causing him to rool down hill]

I am a CHICKEN HEAD!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Tf, with loads of information. Be prepared for a gazillion questions from me when the time comes.

Novinger, MO(Zone 5b)

My DH thinks the computer is really nothing more than a big toy......until I found DG and this forum. After telling him all the stuff I have learned and telling him about what other people are doing or are into, he now says.....'hey, did you ask this or did you ask that?' or my favorite......'did you tell them about ........' He actually seems really put out that I didn't give the exact measurements of the brooder house he built. I think it is too funny! (not getting nearly so much grief about playing with my 'toy' anymore, so that is an extra bonus.)

Right now my DH just calls this forum the 'chicken thingy' on that site. I wonder what he'll change it to? Should be funny!

LOL my hubby thinks the exact same thing, just a toy. Then the other day he asked me to ask a question about our squash plants. I just about fell over dead in my tracks. I just looked at him, then ran into the house and looked it up. Got the answer he needed and he fixed it and just about 4 days later everything was great in the garden. I have yet to get him to sit down and look at TF's pics of their coops and such but I hope to sunday.

Novinger, MO(Zone 5b)

LOL L2G.......I know better by now than to let on in the slightest that I'm on to what he is doing! .....or he'll stop. I just keep a straight face in front of him and don't make a big deal of it......but inside I'm giggling myself silly!! LOL

Can't get mine to look at any pics either.......just a matter of time I figure! : )

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

yea really. I just want him to see your small outside coops. Those are awesome. Just got back in from taking more old fencing that is not going to be usable due to the goats putting all their weight into them to get the chicken feed. He knows I can not do the building of the coop and barn. I dont have the arm strength to hold the drill to long. I need the coop enlarged (what on earth was I thinking 60) and make them a day yard. I am very impatient, I want what I want and I want it now. I know I have time for the coop, I wont get the chicks till the 10th or 11th and then they will probably be in the brooder for at least 10 days or longer. Just depends on how sick I get from cleaning it out every day.

I did mention to him the other day that I need electric in the barn, and it is about 200 ft from the electric outlet, he said he was not going to run an extension cord that far, he would run a straight line to there. That is progress he is talking about it. That is where I plan on keeping the chicks. Now to get water there. A hose is ok for now. Where the coop is the well is fairly close.
I guess break is over back to work :)

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I get more of a break, its raining. Yeaaaaaaaaaaa

a little secret girls.... a simple black & white photo laid in an open spot where he can look without you seeing him looking and he will study it.. I got two coops that way.. designed exactly to my specifications.. once he had this "brilliant" idea.. then we tossed things around.. LOL

Also upon occasion when I go offline, I don't close the browser, I will just leave it open to a picture.. he walks by and will comment... if I'm out of the room... "hey honey, whats this?" never knowing it was meant for him to see... hehe..

Oh.. and after 20 years.. he still doesn't know when I grab the hammer and ask him when the box of screws are... lol, I really need him to do something I asked him to do a hundred times... he always.. comes to my rescue...lol.. thinks I'm gonna do it wrong... wonder if he ever notices I do it right when he's not at home...

Got to love him..... he is a forever keeper!!!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

lol that is to funny. He knows I know the difference from a screw and a nail. I could do the nail thing tho. We DO NOT put anything together with nails, just makes more work down the road. I will leave the browser open to the pics I want him to see. I may try and pick a fight with him tonight. He has been kinda getting home late lately, out with the guys thing!!!!!! If I do it gently he will feel guilty and I will get work from him at least on Sunday. Usually when he knows I am upset with him he will suck up to me for a few days. I was planning on having the holes dug with the post hole digger ughhhhhhh that thing scares me, I do like having all 10 toes where they belong. But the dang rain and then its going to be humid as heck this afternoon. Oh well. I might start tomorrow building the nesting boxes tomorrow if I can find the saw, I think he took the battery for it in the drill. I can do them with nails, whose will get rebuilt as they get worn out anyway.

Novinger, MO(Zone 5b)

LOL fran.....I am laughing so hard at what you wrote. My DH does a lot and gets a lot done.....when it's his idea to do it. I'll have to 'accidentally' leave a pic on the screen. LOL
I have done about the same thing and it worked. There were 2 movies I wanted him to see that I just loved and knew he would too, but I guess because I wanted him to see them, he refused to watch them. So, 2 different times when he got home from work I would hear him pull into the driveway and pop the movie in. Then I left it on while I went and took a shower. He got hooked into them and loved them too. We still watch those 2 movies all the time. Oh, they can just be so ornery, huh?

My sister-in-law said the way she gets her DH to do the things she wants done is to go out and start tinkering around with his 'cherished tools' and he comes running. He to is afraid she'll either mess up the tools or the project. She said it works every time!
Wish that would work with my DH, he couldn't care less if I go tinkering with his tools. If I ask him where a certain type of nail is or what kind I should use for something, he says I don't know, go look for it. grrrrr!

LOL.......grab a hammer and ask where the screws are.........that is priceless!! : )

Oh Dear! My DH is too suspicious--when I start to do something he should have done, he just says "Are you trying to manipulate me into doing it?" I blame his first wife, she was a master manipulator--well maybe not, since he caught on. He did build a nice coop--but no, he wouldn't look at anyone elses. My Dad use to love to build cages and things with me and work on projects with my Mom--he is a lovely man! But it didn't prepare me for the "real" world of men.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

nothing could have prepared me for my DH...

Foley, MO

ROFL tf!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Well I got him to agree to help me with the coop today. BUT guess what. It is raining. Maybe this afternoon we can do something. I have not told him yet that I have ordered the chicks. I sure he suspects tho. I am promising to make rib eye steaks for dinner so that will help to get him motivated.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

he liekly saw the forecast before he agreed to do it "today"... he will know the chicks are here, when the PO calls ... LOL sdave the steaks for AFTER the coop is ifnished..... FIN-ISHED!

Novinger, MO(Zone 5b)

LOL.....you could always lighten the blow.....errrrr.....shock with something else.......but I won't be saying what that might be here! (wink, wink) ; )

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

LMBO, I skulk around here some as I'm wanting to get some chickens soon and I"m soaking up all the info. I was looking at your name up top. How about the Crazy Little (or Loony or Loopy) Underground Chicken Slaves...then you could be CLUCS LOL Y'all are too much fun and can't wait to become a card carrying member!!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

LoL I like that CLUCS welcome aboard.

I did get him out there to tear off what i couldnt. Now he wants to tear it down and rebuild it. uhgggggggg. Its just a chicken coop. now it is raining again. Come on weather just give me a break today and tomorrow then you can rain all next week. I could put the chicks when they get here in our bath room that might motivate him a bit more.

Gate (Rochester), WA(Zone 7b)

LOL you guys are hilarious! & I thought it was always raining in WA. Me, I just do it myself. Now even have my own tools. Just try & tell me you'll get to it. I will do it myself & if it falls apart, I can repair it. DS is great for muscles now.

Love your ways to get things done or ideas planted. Will definitely have to try some next time. It is true, if his idea - done in a heart beat. Mine get to wait - not! You ought to see some of the stuff DS & I have built. Look awful, but serve the purpose & are still standing years later.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Hiya PeaFowl,
Still not getting it done and the sun is shinning now. He is watching a movie he has seen before. Just gotta love him. I can do the brooder but I cant build the coop all by my self. My kids are all grown and only come around when they need something. They all have busy lives. I will get it done if I have to tho. i can do one panel at a time.

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey Pea, I believe someone is waiting on you LOL. Anjl is dragging you back to Cali with her?

Gate (Rochester), WA(Zone 7b)

Shame we are not closer, I'd come help. I need a new pnematic drill anyway. Trees & sheds can help hold side panels for you, although can be frustrating when they fall or move. GOOD LUCK! Been there! Maybe you will get some 'pity help'

Anjl not waiting on me much longer.....In Cali now. Drove all night, stopping a few times to stretch cramped legs, & tried to sleep about 2hrs. Cept my DS would not sleep, so we walked for the hrs! Last time I saw a gorgeous sun like that, was a fire in S. Cali back in 70's; when we had to be evacuated through it to get out . Prefer not to see sun, if that is the reason.

Boy, am I out of it today! Not even sure what day it is. LOL

DS is 17 now, believe this is the last year I will have his muscles. Trying to make the best use of them while I can. $ & privledges as bribery still works at this point still........

Novinger, MO(Zone 5b)

jojoringer.....CLUCS....that is just perfect....and a lot harder to mispronounce!

You all are not going to believe this....my DH actually sat down by me at the computer and read through a thread with me, looked at pictures, AND had me type out messages. Well, knock me down with a feather! (got lots of those around!) :0 and : )

Christy

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the offer :) I do have time to get it done. Hubby will help, I just need to get some supplies now. Tonight we need to go talk to a friend about staying at his lake house this coming weekend. And then we will leave Thursday evening after DH gets off work. And come back sunday morning. Maybe next week we can start on the brooder, if all else fails I can put them in a tub in the barn.

Have a safe trip.
Tia
