Well that was the headlines around here this am..
Don't ya just love it when they take a dirt bath... there is not one single bone in any of these chickens I swear... LOL
"And the girls rushed over to verify..
and sure enough,
to their dismay,
the ranch was going boneless."

Hi Fran........ I am amazed when they take dirt bathes. I didn't know until about 2 weeks ago that they did it too cool off. I just knew they did it and I thought it a little odd at the time. I love watching how they writhe around and get down in the hole real good and somehow manage to toss it up to cover their backs and everything. I still think its funny to watch them do it and I am very glad to now know why.
Yours sure look like they are having a good time!

Frans,
The first time I saw mine taking a dust bath I thought they were sick or injured.
Well I didn't know, never had chickens before ! !
It's too bad they don't stay little longer. All these people getting new adorable babies, and mine are teenagers already, and only 2 months old.
At least with the silkies I can always use them to hatch out any eggs I want to buy, or let them hatch their own later on. Right now, I am trying to figure out how to make them a safe comfortable place to live.
Enjoyed your pic, esp the girls together going to have a look. So cute.

LOL I gotta say, the first couple of times you see that, it's alarming!
One of mine was laying on the ground near hubby's car with one wing spread out and the rest of her was in a hole. I thought my husband ran over her. I think she was nearly as scared when I ripped her out of the ground to "save" her. Sigh.
