Hubby put the new IGS shelves together last week and I have slowly been repotting, watering etc. Moving the plants around. The shelves are like a doll house, ha. I am always moving and playing with the flowers. I love the size and lighting on these so much.
More elbow room for the plants now. I had one set and needed one more. I moved most of the Episcia's back in. I still have some in the sunroom with the orchids and other plants.
The shelves are in our office and I see my hubby look at the violets etc. when he talks on the phone. We have a nice window in there too, nice room.
So here is one picture and another below.

New Shelf pictures
It's beautiful!!! I once had over 300 violets and gesneriads.It reminds me of times past.If I ever retire,maybe I'll start all over.Lynn
I sure don't have 300! WOW. I try to keep my collection small enough to enjoy and not feel burdened. I have about 65 or so, maybe a few more.
Since I garden so much outside and enjoy other things like my pets etc, it can get to be too much with too many.
I love them all though. I enjoy caring for them and learning more and more.
You're wiser than I was.I was working fulltime and finally wore myself out.I just couldn't resist hybridizing my own plants to see what came up.I also grew many things from TINY seed.It was a lot of work, but I loved it!!
Sally: Your stands look wonderful! I would love to have a huge roof for the study with all the office furniture in the center of the room and the walls outlined in lighted plant stands with beautiful Gessie's like that! Sure would make work more enjoyable, wouldn't it? Your plants are stunning!
Lynn: Wow! Over 300 gesneriad's?? I bet it was absolutely beautiful! I am retired and I can't imagine having the time for that many! I'm afraid that number would be way too overwhelming for me!
plantladylin,
I was young then. (sigh)......I probably couldn't do it now!! I was so enthralled with plants I was a member of the African Violet Society,The American Gesneriad Society,The National Begonia Society and subscribed to Indoor Light Gardening.
Upstairs I had a 3 shelf lighted wood stand in the bedroom plus a table near the east window. In the living room my husband built a room divider with a plant tray on top and flourescent lights above. In the basement I had 2 long tables with lights. In spite of all that,I had miniatures growing in brandy snifters everywhere I could find and a couple of terrariums, plus hanging baskets.
I wish I had a digital camera back then!!
I loved my plants and they were beautiful, but my set up was not nearly as organized and impressive as Sally's.Gorgeous!!!
Lynn

Marvelous Sally..so Beautiful!!!
What a beautiful display! And they all have "elbow room"... I have to learn not to try to cram quite so many plants on my stands... LOL.
Yes, they seem to really appreciate lots of air flow. I never let them touch each other. I can keep it all clean that way too.
Those are really great stands and pretty plants, Sally. Happy for you!
The stands are wonderful and the plants beautiful. Great job.
Sally, beautiful shelfs healthy plants. I too, at one time had over 500 plants growing. was in AV shows with African Violet Society. I noticed you grow them in individual water containers probably with wicking? Helene
Thank you. Yes, there is a wick in each reservior.
Sally, I have a new african violet you are going to like! I am taking pictures too quickly as she has not opened up enough. These are some of the ones I got from Jo in Victoria. She has the greatest choices in the world. I think I am shopping at Lyndon Lyons when I am there.
Here is Wrangler's Green Pastures with so much pink and green! I am in love with her.
She is very beautiful! I hope I can go to Jo's sometime. Still not traveling that far.
That is a wonderful plant, I do love them frilly and varigated!!!
I love those shelves!
Thank you. I love the shelving, lighting and the trays. They all work great for me.
