I had seen this limb in one of my brugs for a couple years. (I think I posted, but not much response)...Last year, I snipped it off and rooted it. It stayed variegated green and alive in my basement all winter and here it is now... Still 2 color green variegated... I love it. Why do they do that? How do they do that? I'd expected it to revert, but it hasn't and I don't think it will, now. I've never seen one like it.
Look-Dark & light green variegated brug
A sport, a stable mutation, results when a genetic mutation occurs at the growing tip. Has it bloomed yet? I'm curious to know whether the mutation also changes the flower. What is the name of the mother plant?
Axel Rose is one with green on green variegation.I believe there is one other registered as well but i don't remember the name..
SunSport is another named green on green variety. I actually think Axel Rose and Sunsport are the same because they look identical. I have crossed them to each other dozens of times and have yet to get a pod to set. I also crossed them both with Maya with no luck.
Fred
Thank you, Veronica for explaining the reason. It is from Maya. She has put out totally white branches as well, I didn't think to try rooting, because I didn't think it white would survive. When attached to the mother plant it bloomed the same color as Maya, could it change, being on it's own? Thanks Gone2 and Fred, I wasn't aware Axel Rose was variegated and I haven't heard of Sunsport, but I've only been growing for about 8 years.
Leave the all white branches attached to the mother plant. It wouldn't survive on its own.

Are you asking about your green on green sport or the albino branch?
I had Sunsport and Axel Rose last year and couldn't tell the difference.. I would venture to say they are the same plant too.
I love the sports.. especially the white ones! I had a white sport on my hydrangea of all things.. LOL
Don't cut the white ones off..
Looks like it will be stable, AuntB. Could not happen to a nicer person!
Tussee
Aw, Thanks Tussee, nice to see you here. It's become "momma's pet", the other brugs are all jealous right now... lol Nice to have a new variegated one in my collection. The mother plant is getting some age on her. A couple weeks ago, I was able to kind of separate the old hard/woody part from the new growth from last summer, she's adjusted well but I haven't noticed any albinos yet, but she's just now starting to show happy growth. Poor old girl. I think she MIGHT be my favorite brug... always forgiving to the elements as well as my occasional unavoidable neglect, always producing, and always flushing, once she gets started in warm weather.
Very pretty sport AuntB. Always fun if you are lucky to get one of these.
I hope it will continue to do well for you.
This is 'SubLime' not released yet but has been registered.
The leaves on this one are rippled and edges scalloped.
I have a bunch of it propagated, just haven't made the decision of what to do with it yet.
The blooms are creamy to turn orange in cool weather. Very lovely.
Alice
Very pretty I really like the contrast.
Alice, that one is a beauty too. I just love the ruffled leaves and the name.
Abutilon, I like the amount of lighter green on that one. I have Sunsport but it is so dark, sometimes you have to look twice to see that it's variegated.
Linda
WOW! Alice! That is jaw dropping/drooling on my keyboard GORGEOUS! So unique! Who needs blooms? lol Is it yours? How exciting! When will it be released??? I neeeeeed one... Where does the scalloping and rippling come from, somewhere way back in the family "plant juice" line? I could sure grow out one of your propogations... for scientific/releasing purposes, of course. Do you just toss them or what? I don't think I could.. I love the name, too! It IS Sublime! Thanks for posting it, Alice. Brugs never stop being interesting to me.
