Coshocton, OH(Zone 6a)

this is the second year for the mini garden. i had it in a container in 2006 and last year i moved it to a semi-shady spot of the garden.

That is really cute, daylily970! So where did you get all the little props for this mini garden?

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Really nice!!

I like yours in the ground better than a dish. A dish or container is cute, but that really gives you room to spread out and make it look more realistic.

I'll bet when people come over it is always a joy to "discover" it. :0)

What is the groundcover where the bunnies are, and also in the last picture what is the groundcover in the front bottom middle of the picture surrounded by the sedum and hens & chicks?

beckygardener ~ i found the tea light houses at Jo Ann fabrics in the sale aisle; the big house is a birdhouse from hobby lobby; the scooter, wheelbarrow, wagon, & gazebo came from a flea market and the rest i got at a greenhouse that carries mini garden things.

T ~ yes, people think it is neat. i have it hidden, you can't see the mini garden till you cross the bridge and it is at the end of the pathway. the groundcover in the bunnies yard is tiny tears sedum. the other groundcover is elfin thyme.

I'm familiar with elfin thyme, but not the tiny tears sedum. Is that the same as sedum requienii? or different?

I have the requienii, but if yours is differnt, I NEED it! :0)

Coshocton, OH(Zone 6a)

i look up sedum requienii in the plantfiles and it looks different. here's a closeup of tiny tears.

You can find tea lights at the thrift store. I've seen a few really cute ones that would great in a tiny garden. I have a basketful I acquired during my many trips to my local thrift store and now will put them to good use. Everyone has such great ideas.

Daylily, that's so sweet and bountiful!
I hope you have children around to see it.
I know I would have been spellbound if I'd seen that
when i was little.

I forgot to ask - what is that orange flower that looks like bells? Is it a fritillaria?

Fountain, FL(Zone 8b)

Crown Imperial Fritillaria (Fritillaria imperialis) has bell shaped flowers.

I have an article coming out on Mon, Jul 28, "Silent Bells Beckon"- (Bell Shaped Blooms) There is a list of bell shaped flowers from tee-niney to huge trees.

Well, for now i am spending all my time at hospital, fiancee had bad accident, brain damage, now am stayin here 24/7. It's depressing, but i occupy much of my time with DG forums....and dream and plan my next tiny garden!!! Your garden got me itchin to go dig in the dirt though!! It sure is cute!! When I get home and actually start workin on mine, I'm gonna use your garden ideas to get me started cuz I love yours so!! Hope you don't mind! Mari :)

Coshocton, OH(Zone 6a)

sorry about your fiancee! i don't mind if you use any of my ideas, i got most of them from the greenhouse that sold the mini garden thing.

Mari-
I wish the best for your fiancee's recovery
((hugs))

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Mari, when you're at the stage of not being there 24/7, go dig in the dirt - it's very therapeutic! God bless you with peace and strength, and I pray for a full and speedy recovery.

Now that is a great village, what a splendid job you have done and quite an eye for detail.
