What's big there...

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

well.. I grow mostly removed from the interaction of seeing other Gardens/plants.. SO I do like to travel and visit some... and an occasional visitor gets up here... I was wondering about big... big leaf... and big robust growth.. Yes.. these aspects are very locational and condition effected... but just to see what big is other places and with which brug.. will help be in thinking of crosses for other than a soft blue color... or a hyptnotic fragerance..
OK.. I'llstart... about the biggest growing brug I've seen is a Hawaiian double white X Lamore cross I grew out from seed last year...and as a cutting this year.. it was very fast and tall ..
For a big leaf...Cherub this year holds that honor 24"from stem to leaf tip.. and 10"across..
thanks... Gordon

Where is the pic?

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

ALOHA Bug..
well I did try and upload a picture... the uploadbar colored up... but it didn't go through as it was suposed to
here it is again..
this is the big leaf... plant..Cherub...24" from stem to tip.. and 10"across... it's the lower right leaf..there was a biger one I'd removed in the lower left space.. but it was so overshadowing the little plant in front I removed it... the little one is a
Double Dark Rosetta + Angels Flight X Apricot Queen.. so it deserves a chance at showing blooms...
I'll look through last years photos.. and try and come up with the strong grower of HawaiianDoubleWhite x Lamore..

Very healthy looking and the blooms must be beautiful. Did you cross it yourself?

Hi Gordon, I love when you post, your thoughts are always so logic and right, nice pic of your brug! Your darling seeds are in the gorund, no sign of life yet and waiting anxiously. Keep posting pics, love it! Clemen

Bug... well awaiting blooms now..Cherub was indeedlovely last year.. Ilook for some buds to develop on it real soon.. I've 3-4 others with buds now.. the exotic cross with the two doubles crossed with the Apricot.. all German releases.. was crossed by Volker there..I'm just the seed parent..
Clemen.. Oh..thanks....Good luck with your seeds.. they should jump right up this time of year..
OH.. pictures..well that's so sweet of you to ask.. here's a picture of aseedling pot.. if the brug doesn't get a move on.. it will be eclipsed by the companion planting...

Gordon, how absolutely lovely and thanks for sharing. Every time I think of your rooftop garden it just is so inspirational.......proof that there is a garden space anywhere if you want to badly enough.

Gordon, nice photos, going to the first picture, what is that dark purple flower, not the petunia, the other one with a yellow center? Nice looking girl she is! Clemen

It's a Thunbergia... Blue Glory.. lets see if I have a better picture of it.. well not much better..but another one..lovely flower...and it came with it's own spider mites I saw a few days ago.. since spraying it's grown alot.. it's amaizing how mites will strip the plant of energy and drive.. before the leaves are terribly effected.. Gordon
Edited to include.. I attribute it's darker color now to be the result of newer flowers... and a heavier feeding regimen.. including the recipe spraying everything enjoys here.
