Protecting Fairies

Kaysville, UT(Zone 5b)

Hope you don't mind me asking this again, but what do you do to protect your CM Barker Fairies from fading in the sunlight? Do you use some kind of UV protectant or do you just keep them in the shade as much as possible? These aren't exactly on the cheap side so I want to protect my investment. Any suggestions?

I spray all my outside babies with the UV spray from home depot... they have matte & gloss finishes

All the cute little things I have in my mini gardens I put the acrylic / outdoor spray on matte finish ( 3 coats ) and I have had no problems yet.......but I try to find alot of cheap stuff so if it does fade I won't be upset. But I can only imagine how much you have all paid for those fairys they have so much detail in them.

I'm going to HD now to buy the acrylic/outdoor spray to protect my new fairy:

Thank you so much for your responses. I, too, am heading to Home Depot to get the UV protectant spray. Someone told me though that it doesn't last very long. Do you respray every year or have yours been doing just fine?

Well, I've been to my hd, and they do not carry such a spray. My HD doesn't carry anything I need it seems. I'm going to try lowes and see if I find it there.

Maureen it's by the spray paints... if they do have it

Hi Onewish - I went by the spray paint cans and didn't see it. Then I asked an employee in the paint dept - she told me she had never heard of it, but took a look also and she didn't find it. I'll just keep looking, I'm bound to find it somewhere:-)

Thanks onewish. I wind up buying things I can't find online, I pay big $$ for shipping but if I can't find it at any nearby stores at least I can get it.

good luck... hope you find it

One of you fairy experts please clear this up for me. I was told long ago that a fairy's feet shall never touch the ground or they will die :'(

Now that just can't be right! After all, how else can they dip their toes into a mud puddle or dance around a dandelion?
