Your going to laugh, but when I found this one I did not want to put it in my car to damage the leaves, so I straped it to the roof and put the hazard lights on and did 5mph in the slow lane. It looked like a HUGE Christmas bow, but my car was too dirty on the outside to be given to anyone as a gift LOL I'm not sure if the honkers were mad, but I think they were just jealous :)
This is my Golden Retreiver, she is no small dog and I think if this Bromeliad was a meat eater it would swallow her whole!! I will post another pic of it with a yard stick to give you an idea, but what is IT!!!!
Here is another Mystery!
The stick is 3 feet long, so I'm sure if the leaves were pulled out it would be a bit more.
It's rain season here, heavy everyday so it's rather hard to keep it dry, but I have had it over a month now, and already have 4 pups! The bloom is now gone cause of the rain, but I'm hoping to get more babies. I will keep the base for a long time because I do have luck with reproducing large broms from a well dead plant. Have you seen this one in your research ;)
Julie
Nice one Julie! Its a labrador! Oh, you mean the Brom? Well, no, I've not seen that exact one before, (that I know of), although there are alot of variegated Neo hybrids around. Unfortunately when searching the FBS site, theres nothing to tell you the size or nature of the plants in the pics.
What a great plant! Man, I wished we lived in the same country (australia) cause then we could do swapsies!
I'm off to Cairns on Monday and have some bromeliad garden tours lined up, so will post some pics here to see. It looks like we're the only DG members checking out the brom forums, unless there are lurkers! Are you there, lurkers? Don't be shy! Its ok to comment and tell Julie how nice her plants are!
Keep them coming Julie. I can't promise any ID's but I just like to look at what plants you've got!
