Bloomless Baptisia

Brattleboro, VT(Zone 5a)

I have had a baptisia plant for several years that would not bloom. I moved it from shade to part sun, but still no bloom. It is at least 3 feet tall and seems very healthy. The first bloom--only one--appeared recently. Hurrah!--I thought. But that bloom has gone and there are no more. What could be wrong?

They do best in full sun but do take a while to bloom a lot - at least mine have been slow.

Once you move the plant to full sun don't move it again, they take a long time to get comfey where they are and ar e a B - - - to transplant due to the long roots. They do love full sun and are late to emerge in spring,I'm sure your patience will be rewarded.
I had one for 20 years and had to leave it. Now I'm looking for another white one.

I started some from seed three years ago, and they bloomed for the first time this year - beautiful!

Beautiful Sue, like them with the daisies.

Thank you, everyone. I do not have a full sun location and it is pretty big to move. I think I got misleading info somewhere (can't remember where) and that is why I started it in the shade. But I think this must be the third year in the new location. So maybe one bloom is good and more will come next year. I will have to wait and see.
