Baby Chicks are Here!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I ordered 8 Marans, 8 Ameraucanas and 9 Silver Lace Wyandotts from Welp Hatchery. They shipped 29 - 2 extra Marans, an extra Silver Laced Wyandott and something yellow with a grey dot on her head. The Marans are definately smaller and more delicate looking than the others, so maybe that's why they shipped extra of those. They arrived Wednesday... Anyway, we had a round of "pasty bottom" cleaning this evening. Mostly the Maran's seemed to have had this issue. But everyone is a "fluffy bottom" now.

This is my first time keeping chickens in 20 years, and the first time raising them from day old chicks. I've been hanging out here and reading about all of your adventures - thank you for all the great info!

You can see more photos of my new babies on my blog if you like. http://highdesertgardening.blogspot.com/

Hi, kmom246, welcome to Dave's. I know how you feel, having chicks after a long time. There seems to be quite a few of us who had chickens a while ago that are getting back into it. And, I think there will be more of us. I am also glad I found this forum because although I know a lot about quite a few things, I have been able to find out more and more about chickens here.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I've actually been "at Dave's" since 2001 - but I haven't really hung out at the poultry & livestock forum before. Like everywhere else on Dave's, I have found everyone to be very helpful and friendly. :-)
