help my orange mint disappeared : 0

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

i need advise on this...i traded a nice dg member some plants for some orange and grapefruit mint the grapefruit is doing good however the orange was very small when i got it but i planted it in a planter and put on my back patio under an umbrella that is on table. i watered it very well when i planted it and then that evening it looked dry so watered again because the orange mint had wilted ....by the next morning the leaves were all dried up and dead just crumbled when i touched them! maybe i shouldn't of put the mint outside to begin with? maybe they dont like georgia heat : 0 i pulled the orange mint up and the little rootball looks good still ...my question is will this come back up or is it a lost cause? can yall tell i am new to mints? any help is sure appreciated : )

Sounds like either damping off fungus, or possibly too much water. I would plant the root ball in the garden in a filtered light area, and see what becomes of it...mints are remarkably resilient. If you don't see any regrowth within 2-3 weeks, I'd replace it.
Speaking of which, I'd like to get some orange mint myself:)
Good luck!

kelly, being south of you, I can tell you that Mints dislike our summer "heat", I have all of mine(15 at last count) in a shadey area morning sun only, And they still wilt. I do give them lots of water and I added water crystals to all the pots. Your rootball may come back I have had the same one die back and come to life 2 this now.

maybe i will move them to more of a shady area and see if that helps.
thanks for both of your help : )
