Climbers question

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

Okay, Houston, we have a problem. Had a windstorm a few weeks ago, which demolished the arch in my herb garden. I didn't weep when I just pulled the maypops up but I have a lovely jessamine I don't want to get rid of, but it needs a heck of a lot more than the little metal obelisk I stuck there. If I planted it out front to grow up a trellis with a rose (Golden Showers, which is occasionally gorgeous but more often puny) would it hurt the rose? Help it? Anything?

Thanks!

I think Jessamine in a warm climate needs to grow by itself. It isn't like clematis that likes to share.

I think it will overcome and shade out the rose.

Thanks, seedpicker. That's what I suspected. I think I'll get a little arch for it to grow up; I do like it where it is.
