Mystery of the empty hummingbird feeder - any ideas?

Happy summer everybody :-)
On several occasions the Hummingbird/Oriole feeder in my yard has been quite full when I last see it in the evening but has been completely emptied by very early morning. No sign of any spilled on the ground.
Any ideas who might be enjoying night time sips? Bats??

Bats is what I was thinking. :-)

ohhh, I would love to get a picture of that!
Are you having a wonderful birthday??

Yes my Lobelia (or Cardinal Flower) is the perennial red one.

I have a problem with the squirrels depleting my sugar water. They love it! I had to get some squirrel baffles for the posts I put the feeders on.

I used to have that too Warne, now I hang them from long chains and the squirrels don't seem to bother them.

I also have some ground level bird baths out that the squirrels use.

I did a little test last night by moving the feeder out to a much thinner branch, one that just supported the weight of the feeder. It was still full this morning so I'm thinking it was more likely a squirrel than a bat.

rats. I was looking forward to some bat pictures. Where ARE my bats, by the way. Haven't seen any yet. I sure did have the lightning bugs last night though!

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

LIGHTNING BUGS.....I am soooo green with envy!!!! Can't remember the last time I saw them. :-(((

Pensacola, FL

Yes Ginger_H, just why don't we have lightening bugs in Fl? I just returned from a trip to N. Al. and they were out in force up there and so were the Cicadas, is that how they are spelled???? ..I live in P'Cola and I have never see a lightening bug here or heard the cadadids. Does anyone know the answer to this ? :-((((

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

We've been in Fountain since July 1996. I've seen lightning bugs MAYBE twice here. We do have cicadas. I've got some cool pics of a couple right after they "came out of their shells". They had attached to the screen of our porch so I had a great view. Was before I had the digital (I think)...will see can I find them to scan and post.

Well crud....I forget how to post/copy/paste whatever a link. Anyway I looked at the old threads I started and BINGO...found I had already posted a picture.
