Anyone have an idea of where to start to ID this butterfly
Butterfly ID please
Where was it seen?
I would start with the tropical butterflies, or South America bfs, that should get you close.
Based on the Fly's idea it is tropical, here is one site that was a great help in id for some of the tropical pics I took. They also have a link section that you may find more info from.

My thanks to you all for the input. The link to Ghana was a big help. I may be able to solve it from information I picked up there.
If I solve it I will let you know.
Thanks again,

Art, it looks similar to a Blue Morpho but not quite.... ..is that a pic of one or a painting?
The blue morpho's I photographed didn't have the bands. But the blue is just as vibrant!
i think someone is playing with y'all ............ probably a troll.
Hi everyone!
I solved it thanks to your input.
Starting with morpho I did a Google image search for Morpho families. This yielded a bunch of butterflies. On the second page was a Morpho cypris which looked promising. Googling image Morpho cypris produced the butterfly.
the butterfly is below. If you want to follow the link; http://images.google.com/images?q=Morpho%20cypris&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7SUNA&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
Thanks again.

Hi again,
I should mention, that was not my butterfly, just my request for id help.
Our Broward County Butterfly Chapter of NABA (logo below) received a request for id of that butterfly from a woman in California. Our president sent out her request to all our members. I send the request here since I know how helpful and knowledgeable you all are.
Note in our hand painted logo which resembles our Florida state butterfly the Zebra Longwing, how the artist David Maxwell (deceased) incorporated our club's initials into the design to make it resemble a Zebra Longwing. He even included NABA in the design.
Thanks again,

I had to enlarge to see the NABA, pretty clever.
