Have this milk weed to trade Asclepias syriaca

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Common Milkweed, but one of the best in my opinion, spread s by underground runners, and has very fragrant flowers.

Looking for other milkweeds or fragrant plants.

I have a couple of these potted up, and have already gone through transplant shock.

Just a note of caution on these that I learned the hard way. They are wonderful, but you need to plant them where you are OK with them spreading. They go by underground roots and showed up for me in the middle of my redhot poker seedlings clump. But it is definitely a keeper as I get to grow monarch cats and watch them turn into pupa and then butterflies with my son - experience out of this world :)
Wonderful plant!

LOL, I wish mine would spread like that. mine are 3 years old now and I have about 8 or 9 plants, they don't get much water , maybe that's why they don't spread too fast forme.

Kathy Ann,
Do you have Monarda Fistulosa?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

yep, I've dug some up at my mothers house a couple years ago.

WI does get more rain than AR :) These are a magnet for butterflies.

What about Variegated Butterfly Bush? or the Bicolor Butterfly Bush? Mexican Tarragon?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I'd like to have some of your rain right about now LOL Perhaps that's why these grew like they did this may cause of all the rain. Nothing but rain the whole month. but not now.

And you do have to dig deep for those roots, gosh they seem to grow downward instead of running along just under neath the soilline.

But yes, they dohave their plus, great for butterflies. Mine are also growing in part shade, which is another reason they may not multiply fast like yours.

I just bought a variegated butterfly bush off ebay, but dont have that bicolored one, that's the one that has the multi colored flower right? I'd love that one

Are your plants rooted cuttings?

I dont have too good a luck rooting butterfly bushes for some reason.

Also, these are about 3 to 5 inches in 4 inch pots ,

Yes, they are rooted cuttings..let me look and make sure what I have....they are in 2 1/4 " pots..and are about the same size as yours in height.

Sounds good. Let me know, I can ship mine this monday for you. my addy is in the exchange.

I still have one or two more left I can trade.

To other traders.

There is absolute chaos in my yard, I found a gallon, bi-color...I feel sure there is a rooted cutting in a different part of the yard...it got too hot, and I had to come back inside...I will let you know tomorrow, when I find it.

No problem. I can't imagine how sweltering it is in Texas LOL
