Blind Chick Update.

Lodi, United States

Thanks to Karen's research a chick's life has been saved. I kept washing the little blind Barnevelders head and he is now pecking and scratching and reacting to movement. He is not quite normal yet, but every time I wash his head his vision improves. I think the evidence supports the membrane being the cause. It seems to be very hard to remove and the down on his head is sort of coated in it as well. I have also been giving him extra vitamins. He is much smaller than the other chicks, but I found a paper on congenital blindness in chickens and it said blind chicks are always much smaller--probably inadequate nutrition.

Thank You Karen!

And thanks to everyone else for your encouragement:0)
