Determining Sex links in chicken breeding

Clarksburg, MO

I was wondering if anyone had any good resources on crossing chickens for sex link traits. Like crossing this with that will give you red pullets and white cockrels, etc. I am very interested in this project so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sheila. We had a thread including links for this a while ago. tf is considering a sex-link cross with a particularly nice RIR and some Delawares--I think this would result in one of the red-sex-links. There are several crossings that work, sometimes the results involve different parent breeds on one side, but they are still called by the same hybrid name. A lot of the hatcheries also develop their own lines that they give special names--although the initial cross was a common one.
