I posted this in the passiflora forum as well. This tiny little vine keeps coming back every year and I am curious if anyone knows what it is? Thanks,
Annie
is this a native passiflora?
It reminds me of a milkweed vine flower. Do you know what the seeds/seedpods look like?
Milkweed family climbing vine, looks very similar...

It's found in Barton Creek Preserve, according to this.

Stacey, I think you got it, good job. I have never seen that one.
Wow, Stacey, you're good! I would have never thought to check out milkweeds. How did you know what it is? And I live right by the Barton Creek greenbelt! amazing...
AnnieJo...you must live very close to us, we're on the Barton Creek greenbelt also. Would love to meet you.
Sandi
Well, the two plants that popped in my head when I saw it were a milkweed vine that I took a picture of last spring http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/148829/ and the close up views of regular wild milkweed like this http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/34401/. From there I did several searches online trying to find "milkweed vines" and such. Then when I found a genus that looked right did searches on the plants I found in it.
Very cool and seems to be rare to Texas plant. :)
Ooh, that's lovely! It doesn't grow anywhere near this area, so I hadn't seen one before.
Sandi,
We couldn't be that close. I am zone 8A and you are 8B (grin). Did I mess up my zone? Anyway, do you know where Lost Creek is? That's my area. If so, I probably pass you at Barton Springs nursery or Natural Gardener all the time and never know it!
Annie
In the western half of the country, those zones really don't work much anyway. They are just about the low temps and don't even do a good job with that. There should be zones that factor in heat, amount of rainfall, elevation of the land...etc.
AnnieJo....
I still think I'm in zone 8b, but you may be much 'higher' in the subdivision. I've lived in Lost Creek for nearly 30 years!
