Rex begonia question

Louisville, KY(Zone 6a)

I have a black star rex growing in a 4" somewhat deep pot. In MG potting soil. I have had this little plant for a couple months or more and it has been growing and putting on new leaves.

A few days ago I noticed that the leave were getting droopy and slowly all the leaves and stems are getting soft feeling and falling off.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? I am learning that rex begonias can be delicate, but this is sure sudden.

When I water, I water till the water runs out the bottom, then let is dry out some before watering again.

Thanks for any help.

It certainly sounds like rot.If you have any firm leaves left,I would start propagating it.If you need help to do this, just post and I (and others I'm sure) will help you.Lynn

I would also let it throughly dry out and perhaps plant it in a shallower pot.

Yes, I would repot into a faster draining medium. Let dry out just a bit between watering. You can let the rhizome be above the dirt like you would an iris outside. And like lbrabec said, cut some leaves off and start propogating. Good luck!
