Planting Asparagus... distance between rows

Hi,
I planted about 50 asparagus in rows 4' apart. I am getting 40 more and am running out of room. Do y'all think it would be ok to plant my new asparagus in the 4' "in between" rows? This would make all of the rows 2' apart, enough for me to walk in.... is there any reason I should not do this?
