Best time to plant corn?

Snohomish, WA

Given this year's colder weather, when would you all recommend I plant my corn? This is my first year planting corn. Thanks. =)

I started mine indoors and moved them outside several weeks ago, and of course they are just sitting.
But I think now would be a good time. I would soak the seeds first, to give them a head start. Some of them have short growing seasons, so you should be fine if you are working with those. For the ones with longer growing seasons, if you wait any longer, they won't have time to ripen. I am no corn expert, but that's my two cents! What does everyone else think?

I don't know nuthin' about corn, but somebody told me this weekend that we're all going to have a tough time with corn (if it's outside) because it's supposed to be a foot tall by the Fourth of July. Is that true?

Yeah, I have heard that too, and mine isn't anywhere close! I do have one area where the tomatoes and corn are too close, they are not companion plants and the growth will be stunted, so I am moving the tomatoes. I have some great recipes for green tomatoes, so I better dust them off! This year I put in 8 varieties of green tomatoes, but my question is, how will I know when they are ripe?! ;)

Sounds like taste-testing will be your only bet. I'm still holding out some hope that Mother Nature will make a late and long appearance.

Got some JMs tonight from Gordon. They look so healthy and happy. Thank you so much. I'm thrilled about having the coralbark.
