New from Delaware

Dover, DE(Zone 7a)

Just wanted to take a minute and say hello! I am new to this board and I grew my very first flower garden this year. I have always loved birds and flowers and now that I have a place that has a little (very little) area to grow flowers, I thought I'd give it a try. I did Ok but was plagued by spider mites. My Mother and Grandmother have green thumbs when it comes to flowers, Grandma can grow anything! My father can grow any vegatable he puts his mind to so I am hoping I inherited all of their green thumbs!! Hope to "meet" up with all of you from time to time on the boards!!!!

Welcome to DG, Bossyhummer! Sounds like you're off to a good start with your gardens (patience is a learned virture, and gardening is certainly a good teacher in that area!) Just remember, there's always next year :)

Welcome to DG Bossy Hummer. I am a relative new member myself and just love it here. I have to find out how you got your screen name. I just love hummers myself and was wondering if someone does you like they do me and call you bossy . LOL Then, I thought that maybe your feeders were like mine and had a BOSSY HUMMER that thinks he owns the feeder and fights the others away. I had to put out more feeders as mine are so territorial. Anyway, just wondered about your name. Welcome and be careful as this site is definitely habit forming. I get up during the night sometimes and check it out for recent emails or messages posted. I've got to get ahold of myself. LOL Hope to see you in the boards. Pam aka Lazy Daisy.

I do have a bossy hummer!! She is terrible about sharing!!LOL! I haven't seen a single male this year but I have three females that fight like mad over my three feeders (I put one out for each of them) The biggest female chases away the other two and acts like a rottweiler with a new bone when I fill the feeders with fresh food! The other two females don't give in too easily though, they sometimes try the Ol' Gang Up on Her approach. I could watch them for hours!!

Welcome to Dave's, Bossyhummer. Yep, it doesn't take long to become an addict at this place. I'm in here several times a day just to see the new things that have been posted and I still miss some things. Dave has one big trap set up....you check in but can't check out...hehe
Glad that you have joined this wonderful place. One big gardening family here.
Blessings
