Yesterday I was out working in the garden and my neighbor asked me if I wanted another cat. Since I lost my 18 and 17 year old cats last winter, it only took me about 10 seconds to say yes, so now there is a new little sweetie to fit into the family of 2 other cats and a dog. So far things are going fairly well. I took her down to the basement yesterday where there are lots of hiding places and she seemed to feel safe there. The first couple times I went down I couldn't find her, but by evening she was coming out to visit with me and letting me pet her.
This morning after I feed her and played with her for awhile, I took my little poodle down and let her see him sitting on my lap. Then I let him down and he just ignored her and she watched him walk around and play. I don't think the 2 of them will have any problems. Next I took Sophie my 1 year old cat down and they hissed a little, but then Sadie just sat and watched Sophie play with her fishing toy and then swatted a couple times at the toy too. The two of them are both about the same age and I think will end up being good friends. Samson, my 12 year old male knows Sadie is in the basement and been down there a couple times to check her out, but I have not seen them interacting yet. He is Mr Mellow cat, so I'm not too worried about him either. I tried bring Sadie up to the living room today when all the others were out, but she ran back to the basement, so I'm not going rush her until she's ready. I'm guessing by tomorrow I will be seeing her upstairs.
Here she is playing with my knee this morning when I was sitting in the basement with her. She is a tiny cat with short legs and a rounded head. Almost all black with just a few white hairs on her chest.
