Here is an unknown brug (may have lost tag at some point). This is her first full year in the ground and this is her 2nd flush this year. She put out this flush yesterday and another one this am. I'm sure she will wear herself out soon and take a rest but I certainly enjoy stepping out the front door in the am to the sweet scent of all those blooms and the insignis pink. I thought at first it may have been a cutting of insignis pink but the blooms are definitely smaller and tighter than the insignis pink.

Unknown Brug in Flush
Thanks for sharing those gorgeous blooms. I am suffering of zone envy. Just yesterday I planted my Audrey Hepburn in the ground(My first Brug in the ground), but I'm keeping a cutting in a pot just to be safe. Even though the temperatures have only gotten down to 23ºF these last 7 winters, historically it can get colder than that. I plan to try bubble wrap and then covering her with a blanket on colder nights and hope for the best. Otherwise, around here they die down to the ground. :-)
We seldom have a freeze or frost here but if it even gets close, I take a few cuttings for insurance. Haven't lost one yet to the cold.
wow !! That brug is awesome!
I had 5 in the ground last winter. I put leaves from my oaks as they fell then some hay on top of that. They died down but came back out in the spring.

Anne, in our zone, most Brugs should come back. Although, I wouldn't take a chance with my double Brugs. I don't know if the USDA ever came up with an updated Plant Hardiness Map, but the American Horticultural Society now has Fayette County in zone 9a rather than 8b. Sadly, not all zone 9as are the same.
We've been moved from 8b to 8b/9a, guess they can't make up their minds, lol.

Here's a link to the AHS/USDA plant hardiness map. The resolution is good enough that it allows you to zoom in get a better view of the counties.

For the past 7 winters, the lowest temperature here at the ranch has been 23ºF. This past winter the lowest temperature was 26ºF. Definitely within zone 9a, but will it remain there or is this a fluke?
what a beautiful brug! Congrats! Clem
