Plant ID please

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi, all.
I got these perennials from last years Round-Up and lost the name. Could someone tell me what they are?
Short, about 8 inches tall and wide blooming now, all the same color. I wish I had a better pic but they are buried under Columbines on steroids, lol.
Thanks.

It almost looks like a type of Phlox to me or maybe Jacob's Ladder?

OK I saw a Jacobs Ladder while cruising plant scout, and it is spot on.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, I just looked up Jacob's Ladder. Close but no cigar, lol.
The leaves on mine are more Geranium in shape, not at all like JL's.
The flowers are fading fast. Todays rain may do them in for the season.

Sure is it not a geranium? The flowers certainly look right.

Cranesbill rings a bell but the flower stamen & pistil are different.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

There really are many, many different geraniums and it does look alot like one.
See what I mean?? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/19586/

Hey Andy, are you coming to the RU June 28th? - Carrie

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

It is a hardy geranium (cranesbill). Can't tell you the cultivar, but it is a lovely one.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I know, it's gorgeous! I was probably AT the RU too, what was I thinking?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Pixie, you are probably correct. I did a quick check in the Plant Files before my last post but kept finding differences. I'll call it Cranesbill (in general).
I'm not sure about this years RU. I've not been to this forum much in a long time.
Thanks everyone.

Andy, where have you been??? I haven't been around much either, but nice to see you here :) Can you post a picture of the foliage? Flowers definitely look like a Geranium, but there are so many!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I've been less visible on all my old sites for a while. My DailyPics site is home base but that's as much management as participation. I think I'm going through another "Been there ~ done that" phase.
The Geraniun is buried among over-sized Columbine which are about done flowering. I'll trim them in a few days and see if I can snap a foliage shot for you. I thought McKenna Giants were robust, these wild ones put them to shame at 4 ft tall and 20+ inches wide.
PS, I gave up on PhotoShop in favor of PaintShop Pro. It's so much easier.

Nice.

Oooooooooooooooh I'm in some serious envy of the black ones, pixie & Andy! Closest I have is 'magpie' in black and white, but it is a pretty true black. I know the seeds might not come true, but would you be interested in swapping some seeds of those black ones for 'magpie'? ?

Which one is yours, Celeste?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm pretty sure it's 'Black Barlow"...but it's raining, dark, and 55 so im not going to check! LOL

Chicken!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nope, just no desire to be frozen the rest of the night. This is a damp-to-your-bones kind of rain. YUK!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The rains chilled it nicely here. 59!
